A total of 27 food and drinks traders have joined the scheme, and there is also a 20,000 sq ft events space and BoxBar serving craft beer, wine and spirits.
Smoky Boys currently operates three restaurants: its original opening in Watford, which launched in 2016, followed by sites in Hounslow and Amersham and a delivery kitchen unit in Stevenage. The dynamic restaurant group added mobile ordering through Preoday to its service offering in March 2018, allowing customers to place online orders through an own branded platform. Residents of Wembley Park and beyond will now be able to take advantage of this service by downloading the Smoky Boys app from the App Store or Google Play.
Smoky Boys founder, Sharif Rahman, comments: “Boxpark Wembley is a great site to be in, and we’re very proud to be part of it, being able to order food directly from us, and having the choice of where that food is eaten, does that. Preoday has been the ideal platform for our needs; our customers get what they want and, because we are given full access to ordering data, we get to know them even better.”
Nick Hucker, CEO at Preoday adds: “We love working with ambitious companies like Smoky Boys. It has strong plans for expansion and franchising, and we have no doubt its name and brand will grow rapidly. We are glad to be a part of that growth story; because Preoday is commission-free, Smoky Boys can expect to realise a greater profit-per-order than it might through other platforms.”
It’s not as catchy as: ‘When is a door not a door?’ (answer, when it’s a jar) but it speaks to the idea that in-car collection, and the technologies that support it, are flexible enough to bend to the needs of a business and its guests.
Delivery can be daunting to the uninitiated, and it might be tempting to sign up with a third-party ordering aggregator that offers the service, such as UberEats, but other options could suit your business and brand better. Here we present three different ‘levels’ of delivery, starting with the most basic – and cheapest method: doing it yourself.
